TO  ROTARY INTERNATIONAL

 
   
 

There are four major avenues of service:

  1. Club Administration
  2. Membership Development
  3. Service Project
  4. The Rotary Foundation
  5. Public Relations

These avenues aim at creating a balanced Rotarian, i.e, a man equally interested, and engaged in each of these four activities

 
     
 

1. CLUB ADMINISTRATION:

The club administration is an essential directorate changed with ensuring effective execution of the club’s annual and long-range goals. This directorate has a chairman and other members include the secretary, treasurer and any other members as agreed by the club. The club administration Committee ensures that all District and R.I administrative requirements are observed. They also organize and promote fellowship among club members. They keep members abreast with current rotary information.

 

2. MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT:

To be effective, a Rotary club needs members to serve the community, support Rotary Foundation and develop leaders capable of serving beyond club level. This directoration develops strategies for recruitment and retention of members. They also see to the formation of new clubs. This committee is headed by a Chairman and their roles are:

  • Establishing club goals for increasing membership
  • Developing a membership action plan
  • Encouraging all members to propose prospective members
  • Coordinate and implement new member orientation and education program
  • Promoting membership retention
  • Identify classifications with the professional committee
  • Assisting the board to investigate the eligibility of people proposed for membership.

3. SERVICE PROJECT:

Service above self is the principle Rotary motto. Every Rotarian is responsible for finding ways to improve the quality of life in his or her Community and communities around through service projects. This committee ensures careful project selection, planning and evaluation.

The committee is to ensure:

  • Assessment of current state of club service projects
  • Conduction a need assessment of the local and international community where service project is to take place.
  • Encouraging club and community involvement in projects.
  • Monitoring progress toward project completion and evaluation of projects

4. THE ROTARY FOUNDATION:

The mission of the Rotary Foundation is to support the efforts of Rotary International in the fulfillment of the object of Rotary, Rotary’s mission and the achievement of world understanding and peace through local, national and international humanitarian, educational and cultural programs.

The committee is headed by a chairman who has the following responsibilities:

  • Assessing the current state of the club’s foundation effects and setting goals to support the district goals for foundation fund raising and program participation.
  • Identifying Rotary Foundation resources available to support club goals and educating Rotarians of the Rotary foundation goals

The Rotary foundation programs:

  1. Educational Programs
  2. Humanitarian Grants programs
  3. Polio Plus
  4. Foundation Alumni

Contributions to the Rotary Foundation are in the forms of Annual Program Fund and permanent fund.


5. PUBLIC RELATIONS:

This is essential to the future of Rotary as it is a medium of information to the communities around the world that Rotary meets real needs. Every club should develop and implement a successful public relations plan that will be effective in their community. The plan may take the form of promoting youth exchange student in the club bulletin or press coverage.

This committee has the following responsibilities.

  • Assessing the clubs current public relations plan and setting new goals.
  • Responding quickly and accurately to media inquiries about club activities
  • Presenting information to the public about the club and Rotary and working with the media to secure proper publicity.
